Dog Care

So you've got an adult dog and you're looking for solutions to dog care?
Well, we don't restrict dog care to skin care, ear care etc, we see adult dog care much wider.
Let's explore a few key dog care topics below. Note that you don't have to pay for any of this: it's all FREE dog care, while your vet's care you pay dearly each visit.
Feeding
What to feed, when, how, how much, and for each: why!
Indeed, about dog health and dog food you can find so much nonsense being published. Obviously both because of vested interests:
- pharma industry sharing income streams with veterinarians!
- and pet "food" industry sharing income streams with veterinarians!
Veterinarians always make their cut, indeed. All three of them joined forces for HUGE business. Knowing: dog owners don't notice the unethical collaboration.
But fact is:
- Industrial pet "food" is a waste product from rendering plants from the very very end of today's food chain.
- And breed-specific dog food is nothing but marketing: There is NO difference to other packages, and there is NO inherent nutrients left in any packages.
If you feed that, you are victim of clever marketing.
And you have too much money: you can spend it on waste.
You can STOP THAT anytime though, and that's FREE too: see Owner education further below.
Exercise
Sufficient varied exercise is another hugely important part of adult dog care, in particular for the German Shepherd Dog breed: German Shepherd exercise is essential.
After all this is a herding dog, specifically bred to run around all day to collect livestock. Not bred to lie on a couch and watch TV.
Socialization
A dog's need for frequent social interactions both with people and with dogs never stops.
Adult dogs too, and the German Shepherd Dog all the more, need continually to be accustomed to a variety of situations in a variety of environments in order to behave well.
Without these learned experiences your dog will become difficult, and you are denying your dog to live the healthy and meaningful life (s)he otherwise would.
Full body exam
A regular full body inspection is as much part of dog health as it is part of dog care.
It's about prevention and prevention is free.
While vet visits always cost you money - money that you'd wish you'd rather had saved and a fraction of the bills invested to learn the best from the best.
Well, at the Cynology Hub MyGermanShepherd.Org you can!
Traffic training
Helping your dog to be safe in traffic is dog care.

In fact you can wonderfully observe this and learn from it when you watch the videos in My New Puppy Diary, the only Live & Multimedia New Puppy Chronicles - for your next dog!
Owner education
Learning a few fundamentals of dog health, dog care, and dog training, or even the accumulated best advice from all the top dog experts, is dog care too!
To my knowledge, there is no second resource that provides such wealth of high-end owner education that the Cynology Hub MyGermanShepherd.Org provides to you.
Or can you refer me and others to a similar accurate, comprehensive, helpful, spam-free resource? Then let us all know here.
Vaccination and Medication
Strictly avoiding
- needless and harmful vaccination "boosters"
- antibiotics
- steroids and NSAIDs
these DON'Ts are dog care too.
Go click each, read each, and you'll understand. And in case not, just ask in the comments.
Environmental observation
Scanning the environment: Being mindful on dog walks to avoid broken glass, sharp-edged gravel, hot asphalt, road salt, and debris is dog care.
Freedom - for herding dogs and other dogs
Allowing the fully house-trained adult dog free run of the house, even while you are away is adult dog care.
In fact, if you start out right - with Behavior Training, not Obedience Training - then you too can even leave your puppy with free run of the house, even while you are away - once fully house-trained:

Together-time and Play-time
Regular Together-time and Play with your dog to improve the relationship is adult dog care.
And the list goes on and on...
Here you see that best dog care also prevents dog health problems and dog behavior problems, indeed. Because:
Dog Care and Dog Health and Dog Training, all three are connected, related, interdependent even!
Hopefully this has given you some ideas how to better care for your dog?
There's always room for improvement, I think. For me at least.
